Through its various partnerships, the Public Safety Department offers an array of enrichment and prevention programs for youth and their families.
A School Resource Deputy is stationed at the Duarte Public Safety Station and works at all Duarte Unified School District schools to ensure that youth involved in their programs stay out of the juvenile justice system. It is the mission of this officer to serve as a mentor and teach youth how to navigate through life and difficult situations by developing positive life skills.
All Duarte deputies and public safety staff partner and hold educational presentations for parents, school officials, and youth on topics ranging from safety to dealing with peer pressure. They also conduct field trips, home visits, and are part of the Duarte Unified School Safety Team.
