Annual overnight parking permits can be obtained to park a vehicle on a 3 AM - 6 AM restricted street for circumstances where the residence does not supply sufficient off-street parking for multiple vehicles. To apply for an annual parking permit, there must be more vehicles parked at the residence on a permanent basis and insufficient parking space to accommodate them. All vehicles must be currently registered to the Duarte address on the application. All garage and driveway spaces on the property must be clear of storage and used for vehicle parking. RV's including any type of trailers, boats, etc. and non-registered vehicles cannot occupy any of the parking spaces at the residence. Permits are $100 and valid per fiscal year July 1st - June 30th (pro-rated on January 1st to $50). Permits are issues to motorized passenger vehicles and are non-transferable.

To apply for an annual parking permit, submit the Annual Parking Permit Application to the Community Development Department along with copies of current registration for each vehicle parked at the residence. All vehicles must be registered to the Duarte address on the application. Once the application is deemed complete, the applicant will pay the $6 non-refundable inspection fee. The Public Safety Division will contact the applicant to coordinate a time and date to verify the parking spaces at the property. After completion of inspection, staff will contact the applicant to inform them of application approval or denial. Applicant will then pay permit fee and annual permit will be assigned and issued. Annual parking permits shall be displayed in plain sight on the driver's side of the rear bumper of the vehicle.

The City of Duarte has a prohibition on certain City Streets (restricted street map) between the hours of 3 AM and 6 AM, pursuant to Municipal Code Section 11.13.010. This ban is designed not only to improve the aesthetics of the community, but it also allows for greater public safety of the area.

A temporary overnight parking permit may be used for the occasional need by a homeowner to park a vehicle on a 3 AM – 6 AM restricted street. Additionally, visitors to Duarte may also purchase one of these permits if they plan on leaving their vehicle on the street overnight.

Temporary permits are available for $1 per day for up to 10 days and can be purchased on Huntington Drive in front of Duarte City Hall, or via the parking app (see below). There are no residency requirements for temporary permits. Temporary permits are also available if construction on the home or driveway obstructs parking space.

WARNING! You may be subject to citation if you don't enter the license plate number into the Parking Meter, parking app, or if the license plate is incorrectly typed. Vehicles without plates must pay for permits in person at the Parking Meter and may NOT purchase them via online app. Once at the machine please enter “NOPLATE” and display receipt clearly and visibly on driver’s side windshield.

REMEMBER! Vehicles parked on a restricted street in the City of Duarte between the hours of 3 AM and 6 AM without a valid temporary or annual overnight parking permit are subject to citation! Note: Both the machine and app default to a 10-day pass. User must hit the button to subtract time in 24-hour increments to attain the desired amount of days for the permit.

Conditions of Use

Please review the following conditions carefully before purchasing a permit:

1. Valid only from 3 AM to 6 AM.

2. Expires 240 hours (10 days) from the time of purchase.

3. If the vehicle license plate is not correctly entered into the meter or app, a citation may be issued.

4. Valid ONLY for the vehicle matching the license number printed on the receipt.

5. Vehicle MUST be moved after 72 consecutive hours, or it is subject to citation and tow.

6. Tampering with, or duplicating the receipt is strictly prohibited and will result in citation and/or tow.

7. Temporary Overnight Parking Permits do not exclude a vehicle from any other parking or vehicle code laws. Vehicles with expired registration or non-operational vehicles, if parked on street, are subject to citation and tow.

8. Temporary Overnight Parking Permits contain a security number to verify authenticity.

9. Temporary Permits are NOT valid for commercial or recreational vehicles.

10. Vehicles pulling trailers are considered to be an RV and cannot obtain a permit.

Required Information

1. Vehicle license plate number. If your vehicle does not yet have license plates, please enter “NOPLATE” into the Parking Meter and display your receipt onto the driver’s side front windshield or driver’s side window. Receipt must be clearly visible and failure to do so may result in citation. Vehicles without license plates must purchase permits in person at the parking meter.

2. A valid credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Debit Card).

RV permits may be purchased at the Duarte Public Safety Department located at 1042 Huntington Drive, Monday-Thursday 7:30 am to 6:00 pm and Friday-Saturday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

RV Parking Permit Fees:

• Senior Citizens (60 years of age or older)-FREE up to 3 days a month
• Resident-$5.00 per day up to 6 days a month
• Guest-$10.00 per day up to 6 days a month
