The Duarte Boxing Club operates out of the Duarte Teen Center. It has become an important part of our community by assisting in the efforts to find alternative activities for youth ages 8-18 years old. Youths who may become involved in negative behavior such as drugs and gangs, without programs like the Duarte Boxing Club. Amateur boxing teaches discipline, provides exercise and builds self-esteem in boys and girls.
Currently, our boxing program averages 50 to 60 youths per day. The environment is safe, welcoming, and productive. The trainers are experienced. Our boxing program is primarily dependent on fundraising. Fundraising supports our youth excursions to local and national boxing shows and competitions. It is the support from our local agencies, organizations, and businesses that will aid us in keeping our local community youth safe and engaged in this positive program.
Erika Sanchez wins 1st Place at National Golden Gloves Championship in Omaha!

Duarte community the great news continues! Erika Sanchez, age 20, a boxer out of the Duarte Boxing Club gym for the last 4 years, wins first place in her category at the National Golden Gloves Championship in Omaha, Nebraska on May 19! In the most demanding boxing tournament in the nation, Sanchez, the only Californian left at 132 lbs. earned her way to the National Championship Finals on Saturday and won the gold. She is #1 in the USA.
Prior to this point, on Tuesday Erika defeated Nerissa Turner from Washington D.C., Thursday defeated Alexis Martin from the Mid West and Friday, in the Semifinals, she had a TKO in the 1st round against Charisse Brown from Florida.
