Public Right-of-Way and Transportation Permits
The contractor shall contact the City of Duarte, Public Works & Engineering Division 48 hours prior to beginning work in the public right-of-way. Call (626) 386-6817 Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 6 PM. The contractor is also responsible for calling Underground Service Alert at 1-800-422-4133 at least 48 hours prior to doing any excavation. In order to enhance our customer service efforts, the Public Works & Engineering Division has been working to develop a more streamlined approach to receiving Transportation and Right-of-Way Permits.
Public Right-of-Way Permit
Trucks over 7 tons are prohibited from exiting Mt. Olive Drive and Buena Vista Street.

Staff is available to answer general questions regarding working in the public right-of-way during our regular business hours, which are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 6 PM.
Transportation Permit
The City of Duarte has discretionary authority to issue special permits for the movement of vehicles/loads exceeding statutory limitations on the size, weight, and loading of vehicles contained in Division 15 of the California Vehicle Code. Requests for such special permits require the completion of an application for a Transportation Permit in PDF format.

2021 Fees: Single Trip - $15.00
Public Works is responsible for the administration of the Transportation Permit program through the uniform issuance of Transportation Permits. The Transportation Permit must be accompanied with, or the Public Works & Engineering Division must have on file, an Insurance Certificate for one million dollars ($1,000,000) liability and noting the City of Duarte as the Additional Insured.
Pilot Car: MUST have Public Works & Engineering review and approval. Truck Routes must be followed.
