The City of Duarte is committed to managing risk in any manner possible. The City contracts with the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority (JPIA) to manage the City’s liabilities and risk.

Through services provided with the JPIA the City of Duarte is able to train employees in an attempt to mitigate risk and injury. The City complies with all local, state, and federal laws pertaining to OSHA compliance to ensure the safety of employees.

Under the management of the JPIA, the City of Duarte is contracted with ATHENS insurance for workers’ compensation. The City is committed to accommodation and getting employees back to work whenever possible.

General Liability Claim

The Administrative Services Department processes personal injury, property, or vehicle damage claims filed against the City of Duarte. The terms or acceptance of claim forms by the City is not an admission of any fault or liability on the part of the City or any office, agent, or employee thereof.

Claims for Damages to Person or Property

To file a claim against the City, complete the Claim for Damages form and attach any information to support your claim such as photographs, estimates, diagrams, etc. The completed form and attachments must be returned in-person or by mail:

The City of Duarte is committed to ensuring that all city programs, services, and activities provided are accessible to people with disabilities. The City of Duarte recently updated it self-evaluation and Transition Plan, which is maintained and made available for public review by the City's ADA/504 Coordinator, Kristen Petersen. The City of Duarte does not discriminate on the basis of disability and if you have any concerns regarding any City programs or services, download a copy of the City's Americans with Disabilities Act Procedures and Grievance Form.
