In honor of the nation’s birthday, the City of Duarte is hosting its first ever Independence Day Celebration on July 3rd. This free public event will start at 6 p.m. at Duarte Sports Park – upper baseball fields (1401 Central Ave.), and includes a spectacular fireworks display at 9 p.m.
Family-friendly entertainment leading up to the fireworks will include live music by the Latin-funk-R&B SOTO Band, a performance by the hip hop crew Duarte Dance, food trucks, vendor booths and a kids play zone. Congresswoman Grace Napolitano will also be in attendance to help Duarte kick off its inaugural Independence Day Celebration! The best view of the fireworks show will be on the upper baseball fields, so be sure to bring your lawn chair or a blanket! Seating area will open at 5:30 p.m.
Residents are strongly encouraged to walk, utilize a ridesharing service, or take public transportation as street parking around the event site is limited to street, City Hall and DUSD (1600 Huntington Dr.) parking lots, Duarte High School (1565 Central Ave.) and the CSArts-SGV Performing Arts Center (1401 Highland Ave.). The City of Duarte will extend its Transit Line 861 Green operating hours until 10:30 p.m. for the Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks on Wednesday, July 3rd at Duarte Sports Park Upper Baseball Fields and 9:30 p.m. for this year’s Summer Concert Series at Duarte Park on Wednesdays, June 26 -July 17. *As a reminder, the City of Duarte will be enforcing restrictions on both legal and illegal fireworks usage for the 2019 Fourth of July holiday. Fireworks may not be discharged on the day of July 4th or any other days leading up to the holiday since the passage of Measure F in November of 2018.
