The Duarte City Council has approved the City of Hope’s Campus Plan that sets in motion a major expansion and modernization effort on the 110-acre campus, located at 1500 Duarte Road. This plan will guide development on campus for the next 20 year and beyond. This expansion enables the City of Hope to provide an improved experience for patients and visitors and provides the City a clear look at proposed future growth.
The Campus Plan provides for several new buildings and the renovation or replacement of others. At full buildout of the Campus Plan, existing building area will increase from approximately 1.6 million square feet to a maximum of approximately 2.6 million square feet. Additional parking areas will be added, some within new parking structures. Three new traffic signals will be added near the campus, with new signals on Duarte Road at Circle Road and Village Road and on Buena Vista Street at Village Road.
With over 4,000 employees, the City of Hope is Duarte’s largest employer. Campus growth will create positive economic benefits from short and long term jobs in construction and the high-paying fields of medicine, technology and medical research and development.
The City of Hope plan is compatible with other recently adopted growth plans in the city such as the Duarte Station Specific Plan and the Town Center Specific Plan all areas that are positively impacted by the Gold Line as well as regional and local bus service.
