Red Ribbon March Oct. 26 Encourages Youth to Stay Drug Free

At the Duarte City Council meeting on Oct. 9, Duarte Mayor Pro Tem Sam Kang and Director of Public Safety Brian Villalobos proclaimed October 23-31, 2019 to be Red Ribbon Week, encouraging all citizens of Duarte to participate in drug awareness activities which will include partnering with Duarte schools to have essays and art contests about living drug free.

On Sat., Oct 26, residents are invited to the Red Ribbon March. Participants will receive red ribbons to use to decorate Huntington Dr. to make a visible statement that residents are strongly committed to healthy lives. The event kicks off at the Duarte Teen Center (1400 Buena Vista St.) at 9 a.m. From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., youth will receive lunch and can participate in additional crafts and games while parents are invited to the education workshop “Vaping 101,” to learn the dangers of usage and how to recognize vaping paraphernalia. Come out and bring the entire family for a healthy and fun day.
