DUARTE, CA – With the planning for Duarte's annual Route 66 Parade and 81st Anniversary Picnic titled, “Livin’ the Good Life” well underway, both residents and business owners are encouraged to volunteer and sponsor one of the community’s greatest annual traditions. 

This year’s parade on September 22ndstarting at 10:00 am will feature retired Los Angeles County Supervisor, Michael D. Antonovich as the parade’s Grand Marshal and both Duarte High School’s 2017-18 CIF Championship Boy’s Varsity Basketball Team and Erika Sanchez, National Golden Glove Champion as the Community Grand Marshals. High school bands from throughout Southern California will also perform and compete for trophies.  

The Route 66 Parade Committee is currently seeking companies and local businesses to be parade sponsors with sponsorship levels ranging from $250 to $1,500 available. All sponsorship forms are due by August 25th and are asked to be mailed to the Route 66 Parade Committee at P.O. Box 1122 Duarte, CA 91009-4122. The Route 66 parade, co-sponsored by the City of Duarte, the Route 66 Parade Committee, and the Duarte Community Coordinating Council begins at the northeast corner of Huntington Dr. and Cotter St. and proceeds east for one mile ending at Mt. Olive Drive. It typically consists of about 1,400 entries including antique and classic cars, local businesses placed along Route 66, schools, churches, equestrians, hogs, and approximately 10 marching bands.
