Duarte Recognizes Conservation Friendly Residents Through the Green Home Awards Program
DUARTE, CA - Does your landscape utilize the latest in drought tolerant landscaping or California native plants? Have you recently switched to an irrigation system that utilizes drip technology or other water conservation features? If you have, our Duarte Service Clubs, California American Water and Duarte Staff want to recognize your place of residence during its annual Green Home Awards Program designed to reward homeowners who have maintained the beauty of their homes while excelling in landscape and water conservation practices. Judging of homes will take place beginning Saturday, April 1 until Sunday, April 24.
Guidelines and criteria used in the selection of winners include judging the general overall appearance of the home, confirming that the homeowner used water conserving irrigation and/or drought tolerant landscaping, and ensuring that the property is in compliance with all municipal codes. Local service groups such as LULAC, Duarte Education Foundation and the Duarte Kiwanis Club are assigned a zone and may select up to 5 winning homes per zone.
Qualified winners that meet the criteria will be invited to the May 23, 2017 City Council Meeting to be recognized. Each winner will receive a certificate of recognition signed by the mayor, a recognition lawn sign, a water conservation kit donated by California American Water and a Home Depot gift card.
