$10,000 REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION ON THE MURDER OF KIRINDA LAVAR MOREHEAD, DUARTE RESIDENT

DUARTE, CA, MARCH 23, 2017- Kathryn Barger, newly elected member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors spearheaded the approval of a $10,000 reward to any individual with information leading to the location of suspect(s) in the recent murder of Duarte resident, Kirinda Lavar Morehead. Morehead was shot February 18th in front of his home at around 8:30 pm on Mount Olive Drive after parking his car on the 2300 block of Bashor Street. The responsible party is still at-large.

The City of Duarte has hired a contractor, Care for the Children, to refresh painted curb addresses citywide. This service is being provided at no cost to residents or property owners. Please do not pay the painters or anyone that requests a fee or donation for curb painting.

EDISON CONSTRUCTION ON HUNTINGTON DRIVE TO CAUSE LANE CLOSURES; STARTS MONDAY, MARCH 20, 2017

DUARTE, CA, MARCH 16, 2017- Southern California Edison will be replacing an electrical vault at the northwest corner of Huntington Drive and Windsor Circle,1935 Huntington Drive beginning March 20th causing westbound traffic to be reduced to one lane. The four-week electrical vault replacement process requires the temporary relocation of live wires causing the sidewalk to not be available to pedestrian traffic as well.

Pilot Street Sweeping Program Update; Warnings begin April 12th, Citations May 10th

Starting the week of March 6th and concluding on the 31st, the City of Duarte will be adding both updated and new parking restriction signs to streets within the designated Street Sweeping Pilot Program area. The new signage was in response to action taken by the Duarte City Council on October 25, 2016 to revamp the original pilot program that required vehicle removal from both sides of the street on street sweeping days to allowing residents to park on one side one day, and the other side the next.

DUARTE AND BRADBURY HONOR THE ENVIRONMENT, APRIL 8 DURING JOINT “EARTH DAY” VOLUNTEER PROJECT

DUARTE, CA, February 21, 2017 – Duarte and Bradbury will honor the Earth with a variety of joint community volunteer projects starting at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 8th at the Duarte Teen Center. This year’s Earth Day celebration, sponsored by Burrtec Waste Industries, Volunteer Center of the San Gabriel Valley, Upper San Gabriel Municipal Water District, and the LA County Sanitation Districts will include the planting of drought tolerant plants and trees in Encanto Park and Bradbury, cleaning the Royal Oaks Trail, Duarte Park and retail parking lots along Huntington Drive.

COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP DAY AND DOCUMENT SHREDDING EVENT ON APRIL 8

DUARTE, CA, February 19, 2017 – Duarte and Burrtec Waste will hold its bi-annual Duarte Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at two convenient drop-off locations where residents can dispose of large refuse items and e-waste. The locations are the Duarte Civic Center at 1600 Huntington Drive and Beardslee Elementary School at 1212 Kellwill Way, Duarte, CA, 91010. BRADBOURNE AVENUE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT BEGINNING NEXT WEEK!!! (February – March 2017)

The City of Duarte will commence street improvements to Bradbourne Avenue between Royal Oaks Drive and Huntington Drive starting next Monday, February 6, 2018. These improvements include roadway resurfacing, installation of new curbs and gutter, sidewalk with ADA ramps, permeable concrete gutters, and automatic retractable screens (ARS) for the catch basins.

How do the new Statewide water conservation regulations affect Duarte residents? Water in Duarte is supplied by California American Water Company’s Los Angeles Service District; an urban supplier. The conservation savings for all urban water suppliers are allocated across nine tiers. Duarte is part of Tier 7 requiring a conservation level of 28%.
