COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP DAY AND DOCUMENT SHREDDING EVENT ON APRIL 8

DUARTE, CA, February 19, 2017 – Duarte and Burrtec Waste will hold its bi-annual Duarte Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at two convenient drop-off locations where residents can dispose of large refuse items and e-waste. The locations are the Duarte Civic Center at 1600 Huntington Drive and Beardslee Elementary School at 1212 Kellwill Way, Duarte, CA, 91010. Please note that at this event, hazardous waste will not be accepted. For household hazardous waste information, please call (800) 238-0172 or visit dpw.lacounty.gov/epd/hhw/

Fish Fire Impact Area Storm Update; City of Duarte Moves to a Green Alert Level; Streets Open to Thru Traffic

With the bulk of the clean up operation behind them, City of Duarte officials are moving to the Green Alert level at 4 pm this afternoon, February 18th. Identification checkpoints will lift and the public and residents may now move about freely through the impact area.

COMMUNITY INVITED TO ATTEND FREE HEALTH FAIR ON MARCH 4

DUARTE, CA, February 13, 2017 – Duarte, “The City of Health” encourages our community to keep “health” as their top priority for 2017 by attending a free health fair on Saturday, March 4th from 8:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the Duarte Community Center, 1600 Huntington Drive, Duarte, CA 91010. During the event, a variety for free services will be available including full panel blood testing (Note: an individual must fast eight hours before test); bone density, dental, vision, blood pressure and body mass index screenings; ask a dietician and ask a pharmacist booths and a colorectal cancer screening take home kit.

BRADBOURNE AVENUE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT BEGINNING NEXT WEEK!!! (February – March 2017)

The City of Duarte will commence street improvements to Bradbourne Avenue between Royal Oaks Drive and Huntington Drive starting next Monday, February 6, 2018. These improvements include roadway resurfacing, installation of new curbs and gutter, sidewalk with ADA ramps, permeable concrete gutters, and automatic retractable screens (ARS) for the catch basins.

Duarte City Hall Serves as a Vote By Mail Drop-Off location For March 7th Consolidated Special Election

With the goal of providing convenient, accessible, secure, and transparent options for Duarte voters (and all L.A. County voters) to cast their ballots on, and before, Election Day, Duarte City Hall is now a "Vote By Mail Drop-Off Location" for voters to drop off their Vote By Mail (VBM) ballots. The ballot box is located in the Reception Area of City Hall, easily accessible for members of the public to drop off their VBM ballots, and is available from February 6 - March 6, 2017.

K-Rail To Be Installed in Fish Fire Burn Area Beginning September 26

Duarte Revamps Mandatory Street Sweeping Pilot Program; New Restrictions Go Into Effect December 1st

After three months into a six-month pilot street sweeping program, the Duarte City Council voted October 25th to revamp it from mandatory removal of vehicles on both sides of the street to parking on one side one day and the other the next to accommodate both the need for clean streets as well as resident’s vehicles. This change was approved by the Council after staff reported about the program’s initial effects including the residents’ overwhelming support including some form of parking restriction on street sweeping days.

The website provides a lot of information about the current process to develop stronger zoning standards for the central part of Duarte as well as historical information about the City’s concept for the area.
