First West Nile Virus Infected Mosquitoes Collected in 2017 by the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District

San Gabriel Valley, CA - May 09, 2017 - Samples of mosquitoes collected from Bonelli Park in the City of San Dimas have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). This confirms that mosquitoes in the San Gabriel Valley are actively circulating the virus and people are once again at risk of being infected.

Reilly Receives Governor’s Appointment

Margaret Finlay Sworn in as SCAG President; Sets Goods Movement, Big Data as Policy Priorities

Duarte Leader & Volunteer, Steve Hernandez Receives Community Service Award

DUARTE, CA - The California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS) and the City of Duarte recently honored long-time volunteer and community leader, Steve Hernandez with the distinguished Community Service Award at its annual Awards Dinner earlier this month. Hernandez has dedicated much of his time and energy towards improving the City of Duarte serving as a hardworking volunteer at the Senior Center for numerous years.

Pilot Street Sweeping Program Update; Warnings begin April 12th, Citations May 10th

Starting the week of March 6th and concluding on the 31st, the City of Duarte will be adding both updated and new parking restriction signs to streets within the designated Street Sweeping Pilot Program area. The new signage was in response to action taken by the Duarte City Council on October 25, 2016 to revamp the original pilot program that required vehicle removal from both sides of the street on street sweeping days to allowing residents to park on one side one day, and the other side the next.

K-Rail To Be Installed in Fish Fire Burn Area Beginning September 26

Water Conservation in Duarte

How do the new Statewide water conservation regulations affect Duarte residents? Water in Duarte is supplied by California American Water Company’s Los Angeles Service District; an urban supplier. The conservation savings for all urban water suppliers are allocated across nine tiers. Duarte is part of Tier 7 requiring a conservation level of 28%.
