Amateur Boxers Set for 3nd Annual
Duarte Youth Boxing Show, Aug. 24
Young amateur boxers from boxing clubs throughout Southern California will be in Duarte on Sunday, Aug. 24 to compete in the 3rd Annual Duarte Youth Boxing Show hosted by Duarte Parks and Recreation’s Duarte Youth Boxing Club.

Childcare Center Construction To Begin
A
long planned major expansion and transformation of the Maryvale Childcare
Center in Duarte is set to get underway this fall with construction of a
34,000 square foot childcare, counseling and family resource center.

The City of Duarte’s ongoing efforts to bring new
businesses and new jobs to the city are continuing to succeed. A Fresh &
Easy Neighborhood Market has selected a retail shopping center at the
northwest corner of Huntington Dr. and Mt. Olive Dr. for a new store

services available to youth in the San Gabriel Valley will be launched by
the City of Duarte on June 21.

Duarte Summer Concert Series
The City of Duarte will kick
off four summer concerts in the park with the popular international Latin show
band, La Internacional Sonora Show on June 25.
Each concert in the series will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at
Duarte Park.

Duarte Approves 2008-09 Budget; Council
Earmarks Fund to Oppose Mining
The Duarte City Council/Redevelopment Agency unanimously voted last week to
adopt a combined $26,845,300 budget for 2008-2009.

Construction Underway on Duarte Best Buy Store
and Shops for Six Other National Tenants
Construction has begun in Duarte on a 46,000 square foot Best Buy store
at the northeast corner of Central Ave. and Mountain Ave. The project is
being built on 4½ acres purchased from the Duarte Redevelopment Agency.

Plaza Duarte To Begin Construction
The
City of Duarte has awarded E. C. Construction Company the
contract to build a 9,800 square foot plaza across the street from Duarte
City Hall. The centerpiece will be the 11 foot 2 ½ ton
bronze equestrian statue of City namesake Andres Avelino Duarte.
