Nature Walk Project
The Los Angeles Conservation Corp has begun
removing non native plants along the west bank of the San Gabriel River in
Duarte. It is the first step in the development of the City of Duarte’s
proposed Encanto Nature Walk project.

Residents
of the city and county area of Duarte will soon be able to save an average
of 20% off the retail price of commonly prescribed prescription drugs
through a program provided by the City of Duarte in collaboration with the
National League of Cities (NLC).

$57,550 Recycling Grant To Launch Recycling Program for Multi-Family
Residential Units
The City will utilize the funds to launch a recycling program for
multi-family residential units in Spring 2009. Multi-family dwellings make
up approximately 30% of all housing units in Duarte.

Duarte Recreation Supervisor Teesha Tarr Receives
Merit Award
The
City of Duarte was recently honored with the Agency Award from the Southern
California Municipal Athletic Federation-San Gabriel Valley (SCMAF-SGV).
Duarte was recognized for its “outstanding participation of the
organization” from among 44 member agencies in the San Gabriel Valley.

Christmas Tree Recycling Program Collection
from Dec. 26 to Jan. 17
The City of Duarte through its franchised trash hauler, Burrtec Waste,
will provide a Christmas tree collection service for residential customers
in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Sanitation District’s annual
Christmas Tree Recycling program.

Director. Hensley replaces longtime community development director Ed Cox

Weekly Farmers Market Comes To Duarte
Duarte will
soon have its own weekly farmers market running on Saturday mornings from 9
a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning on October 25th, 2008. The farmers market will be
located at the northeast corner of Huntington Dr. and
